Annular Space Grouting

As pipeline infrastructure continues to age, more and more emphasis must be placed on repairing these underground systems.

Slip lining and relining are methods of installing a new pipe without having to dig a new trench. The existing pipe is used as a host pipe to allow the insertion of a new carrier pipe. The annular space between the pipes may need to be grouted depending on the method chosen to install the new pipe.

When annular space grouting is required, material choices are critical. Cellular concrete is most often used to fill the annular space. This material is produced by blending a preformed foam into a cementitious slurry. The resultant grout is highly flowable and can be pumped over long distances.

Density and strength of these materials can be adjusted to meet the needs of the project. Certain conditions and project requirements may dictate the use of neat cement or other specialized grouts.
