Filling Abandonments
When abandoning an underground line or structure the two basic
options that are considered are abandonment in place or removal.
In many cases, removal is neither feasible nor cost effective.
The deterioration of a structure or pipeline abandoned in place
(without filling) may lead to ground subsidence. Ground subsidence
creates the potential for water erosion, may impact the future land
use and pose a safety hazard. It is extremely important these lines
or structures be filled if they are located beneath a road, railway
or other areas sensitive to subsidence.
Each project offers unique challenge. Many times access is limited
and materials must be pumped long distances. MixOnSite offers complete
installation services including mix design support, state of the
art equipment and experienced crews.
Our fleet of mobile batch plants,
silos and pumps are ideally suited for projects requiring high production
or specialized mix designs including those that use low cost waste
materials and/or lightweigt foam concrete.
Abandoned structures that may require filling include coal mines,
tunnels, sewers, and pipelines.
