Deep Foundation Elements
Micropiles are high capacity, small diameter (5" to 12") drilled and grouted in-place piles designed with steel reinforcement to primarily resist structural loading. The grout creates a bond between the interior casing wall and structural bar, as well as the external casing wall and the soil. Design loads range from 75 to 300 tons. They can be installed in virtually any ground condition with minimal vibration and disturbance to existing structures. Drilled micropiles are excellent in urban areas or sites with limited access including low headroom. Dependent upon site conditions drilled micropiles can be used as friction piles or in bearing if socketed into rock.
Helical Anchors Manufactured by AB CHANCE®
A helical anchor/pile is a segmented deep foundation system with helical bearing plates welded to a central steel shaft. Load is transferred from the shaft to the soil through these bearing plates. Central steel shafts are available in either Square Bar Shafts (1 ¼” to 2 ¼”) or Tubular Shafts (2 7/8” to 4 ½”). These piles can be used in bearing and to provide anchor capacity for structures and towers subjected to wind loads. Other applications for this product include foundation support for signs, towers, slabs and columns. The Helical Pulldown® Micropile series is used in similar applications that require higher load capacities. This system utilizes a grout column around the shaft to increase strengths.
