Cellular Concrete

Cellular concrete, also known as foam concrete, is produced by blending preformed foam with a cementitious slurry. The density and strength of the material is a function of the mix design.

Cellular concrete properties include:

  • low density - Load reduction is achieved without sacrificing strength or stability.
  • choice of low or high permeability - New products and designs now allow us to offer a material with high permeability.
  • thermal insulating properties - High air content provides good insulating, sound and fire resistance qualities.
  • energy absorbing qualities - As foam concrete is compressed during impact, resistance increases and kinetic energy is absorbed.

Here's a comparison of weight densities, compressive strength and thermal conductivity achieveable with Neat Cement/Fly Ash mixes vs. and those achievable with Sand/Cement/Fly Ash Grout mixes.
